Subject to a hatful of Wicked Whispers and Kats Reports, the rumors of a makeover for the former Ivan Kane's Forty Deuce spot at Mandalay Bay can at least be confirmed.
Fat Hat LLC run by Robert Sabes, is bringing the 1923 Cigar Bar to Mandalay Place, directly adjacent to chef Rick Moonen's RM Seafood and Rx Boiler Room. Local tattle points to Holly Madison reviving her showgirl, Playboy and Peepshow past and singing and performing in the locale's main revue.
The 4,648-square-foot space with room for 269 occupants will not increase the size of the old Forty Deuce footprint. While yet to begin major construction, the project has already hit one snag by hoping to place an appropriate vintage car in front of the exit doors perpendicular to this corner hideout. The 1923 name and date tips the concept deep into the heart of the Boardwalk Empire Prohibition-era of mobsters and bathtub gin.
Sabes runs two Minus5 Ice Bars on the Strip, including one a quick escalator ride upstairs from this new venture.
Forty Deuce lasted five years before shuttering in 2009. The retro burlesque club with two bars was heralded for its commitment to utilizing a live house band. The current plans call for a complete remodel of the mothballed space, now themed on a 1920s adult cabaret featuring "interactive" moments suggesting a style successfully pioneered by Spiegelworld's Vegas Nocturne at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas' Rose.Rabbit.Lie. venue.
