Two restaurants found their doors closed after the Southern Nevada Health District whisked through during their random inspections. Japan Cafe at the Las Vegas Premium Outlets racked up 59 demerits on Jan. 10 for violations such as cooked chicken stored on dirty prep sink with water from faucet dripping onto chicken. Even a reinspection the following day found 12 demerits and kept the doors shuttered. Carnitas Michoacan on Nellis Boulevard received 46 demerits on Jan. 11, for violations that included no logs or standard operating procedure for food safety at facility. Restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits are closed immediately. [LVRJ]
