The final beam is in at Hakkasan, the 75,000-square-foot restaurant/nightclub/lounge going in at the MGM Grand. Top Angel Management Group and MGM Grand staff joined construction workers yesterday to top off the steel structure.
Now construction workers focus on building out the interior of the five-level space that takes over the former Studio 54 space. The ambitious project has been diverting traffic at the corner of Tropicana Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard South where massive cranes have been placing the steel beams.
When complete, the monster-sized club with feature a restaurant and lounge as well as a new nightclub component, something unique to Las Vegas. Inside Hakkasan plans to have a similar Chinoiserie decor to the flagship, Michelin-starred London location.
Hakkasan pushed back opening to April 2013. Originally it planned to open in time for New Year's Eve.
