4 More Restaurants Shut Down by SNHD; 2 Come Close

Four more restaurants found themselves shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District this week and two more came close.

Meskerem Ethiopian Restaurant at 252 Convention Center Drive was shut down by the SNHD after a routine inspection on Oct. 17 uncovered 53 demerits. Inspectors found spoiled food, food unprotected from potential contamination and more.

Albo Pizza at 1510 Las Vegas Blvd. S. was shut down on Oct. 16 after a re-inspection found 22 demerits. Violations included food unprotected from potential contamination during storage and prep as well as by chemicals. A previous inspection on Sept. 24 uncovered 39 demerits.

Thunderbird Bar & Lounge at 1215 Las Vegas Blvd. S. was shut down on Oct. 16 after a routine inspection found sewage or liquid waste disposed improperly. The imminent health hazard called for the immediate shutdown.

Big Mama's & Papa's Pizzeria at 1370 E. Flamingo Road was shut down after a routine inspection on Oct. 16 with 49 demerits. Inspectors found spoiled food, staff not washing their hands properly and no hot and cold running water.

Also coming close, Pannee's Thai House at 722 W. Sunset Road with 40 demerits found during a routine inspection on Oct. 16. Food wasn't stored or reheated at the proper temperature and food was unprotected from potential contamination during storage and prep as well as by chemicals.

Fat Tuesday at the Forum Shops at Caesars racked up 39 demerits during a routine inspection on Oct. 15. Staff didn't wash their hands properly, the restaurant had no hot and cold running water and there were ineffective pest control measures.

The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits.
