Über rich casino mogul Steve Wynn's British wife says that Switch at Encore Las Vegas will be named for her when it reopens at the end of the year. For now, the name of the restaurant behind the best-looking plywood in town is Andrea's.
Eater Vegas already reported that the restaurant will be an Asian concept, although with the caveat that "Steve Wynn is notorious for exercising his executive privilege veto on any restaurant detail, from name, design or cuisine and right up to the last minute."
So far, the restaurant looks like it will have three sushi prep stations with one open to the dining room. Kitchen equipment from Wazuzu is being shuttled over to the new space.
The design of the space includes oversized "eyes" artwork and an animated eye sculpture along with a number of statues and abstract objects, a series of chandeliers constructed of origami-style crane birds and pendants and mobiles.
The 4,470-square-foot restaurant will have seating for 152 and 11 at the bar. Look for an opening in time for New Year's Eve. Switch closed at the end of July after a four-year run.
