Sisters Pam and Christina Dylag had a dream to open their own bar in Downtown Las Vegas, and now it's coming closer to a reality. The Velveteen Rabbit, named for Pam's favorite childhood book and a reflection of a dream turning into a real bar, is about two months from completion on Main Street.
The sisters are developing a building that suffered a fire two years ago, but they're keeping the texture on the walls left by the flames. They had to build a new roof and plan to keep the beams exposed in this bar with a 1920s Victorian theme. The duo shopped thrift stores and Craigslist to find odd glassware for the bar and interesting chairs for the lounge.

They plan to serve 12 beers on tap and 15 bottled beers in addition to craft cocktails.

Right now, the walk-in cooler and office are close to completion.

Look for a December opening.
