One week from now Las Vegas will have just the kind of neighborhood Thai joint it needs. Chada Thai & Wine plans to open Oct. 12, and already the food mafia is applauding the menu of 50 dishes, most under $10, set to debut.
But first a few notes. When the clock strikes 5 p.m. next Friday night, owner Bank Atcharawan, the former sommelier of Lotus of Siam, won't have his liquor license, meaning the 150 to 170 wines, mainly Rieslings and global whites, won't be available. He hopes to have it within two weeks of opening. Until then, it's BYO.
The menu is crazy good with Southern Thai dishes that sometimes have a Chinese influence. Atcharawan says many of the dishes come from recipes he grew familiar with growing up.
Chefs and the late-night crew will find their way here as well. Atcharawan plans to be open until 3 a.m. seven nights a week.
