The chandeliers are lit, the albino peacock is waiting to be mounted and they are looking for you to design them a bike rack. Fremont East's speakeasy inspired bar, the Commonwealth, looks like it will meet its scheduled November opening date, planning to open this Thursday.
A corner mounted neon sign is in place and operational. The rooftop deck will be lit by carnival lights and also feature a DJ booth and a second bar. A visual accent of the long, main bar downstairs will be a vintage stuffed albino peacock.
The Downtown bar is currently running a contest for anyone wishing to design a bike rack to be installed on the Sixth Street side of the building. The design needs to accommodate as many as 20 bicycles. Entrants have the opportunity to see their creation turned into a reality and also receive $1,000 in prize money. Entry deadline is Nov. 26 and rules, entry form and examples of similar concepts are available online.
