Prepare for dueling gelato options at the Venetian this winter. Directly across from the under construction Bouchon Bakery, finishing touches are being added to Zio Gelato. The 542-square foot kiosk is designed by Joshua Zinder, who also created the Venetian's Bourbon Room and the shuttered Charlie Trotter's at the Palazzo.
Located in the Venetian's Strip facing Clock Tower, which Zinder's company also remodeled, Zio Gelato is curiously, almost directly below Thomas Keller's own forthcoming slant on the gelato store, the upstairs annex to his new Bouchon Bakery outpost.
Zinder describes his design as an "intense graphic presence" with "a bright orange ribbon element." Expect Thomas Keller's design accents to be less exuberant. Both gelato options are on track to open this month.
