Scarpetta Shut Down by SNHD for Repeat Violations

It's not looking like a bright weekend for Scarpetta at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The Southern Nevada Health District shut down Scott Conant's cookline B at the restaurant after a re-inspection on Nov. 1 unveiled 15 demerits.

SNHD inspectors found food unprotected from potential contamination during storage, a lack of hot and cold holding equipment and potentially hazardous foods stored at improper temperatures among the violations. A previous inspection on Oct. 23 found 32 demerits on cookline B.

The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
