Mamita's Mexican & Cuban Food again found itself shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a re-inspection on Oct. 30. The cause — repeat violations.
A walk past the restaurant at noon confirmed it was still shut down today.
Inspectors shut down the restaurant April 5 after finding 52 demerits. The restaurant fared no better the following day when a re-inspection found 32 demerits.
During the Oct. 30 re-inspection, the SNHD found spoiled food, potentially hazardous food improperly cooled and food unprotected from potential contamination by chemicals among the violations.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before its next scheduled inspection.
