Tea-Inspired Menu at Bar + Bistro; Benefit at Herbs & Rye

DOWNTOWN — The first Las Vegas Tea Fest kicks off this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Arts Factory. The day includes tea sampling and sipping, educational courses and tea ceremonies. Afterward, Bar + Bistro chef Beni Velasquez and mixologist Scott Hartmann are offering a tea-inspired, four-course dinner. Dishes include Bristol Bay scallops consomme featuring a lavender black tea infusion and pairing a Loch Duart Scottish smoked salmon salad featuring Lapsang Souchong, a smoked black tea as a spice addition; Atop old Smoky, a tea, scotch and bitters concoction; pineapple-crusted baked chuleta infusing a pineapple green tea and paired with a Bonzai; and a masala chai flan and a chaitini. For more information, visit [EaterWire]

WESTSIDE — Herbs & Rye is holding a benefit for Seattle bartender Murray Stenson, who needs to have heart surgery. The legendary Seattle bartender does not have health insurance so events and fund-raisers have taken place across the country to help Stenson. The event from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Nov. 11 costs $10 at the door, all of which goes to the fund, plus sales of Last Word cocktails will also benefit Stenson. we will be serving Last Word cocktails, all of which sales will go to the fund.
