Comedian Eddie Griffin Keeps to the Strip

Starting now, we've enlisted comedians, some based here and others who spend their time on the road and come through Vegas, to share their recommendations on great places to dine in Sin City for a feature dubbed Comedian Confidential.

Perhaps known more for his acting than his stand up, comedian Eddie Griffin began his career with a dare from his cousin that prompted Griffin to perform on a comedy stage for a mere three minutes. After a successful 45 minutes, Griffin bought a ticket to Los Angeles and started performing standup comedy professionally. A quick rise to fame landed Griffin in the acting scene, where he starred in movies such as Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo and Undercover Brother. Griffin performs at the Rio every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 p.m. Here he has a few words about his favorite places to dine in Las Vegas.

Where do you enjoy eating in Las Vegas when you're not working?
SushiSamba, Tao Asian Bistro and The Fat Bar
?
What dishes are most memorable?
At SushiSamba, the Kobe beef on the hot rocks. I'm telling you. Thinly sliced Kobe beef and they heat this rock up to 2,000 degrees or something, the surface of the sun. And then you know it's like you're barbecuing yourself. You just lay the little flesh on top of it. You can make it medium, well done or medium rare, it's to your liking.

Yellowtail jalapeño at Tao. Yea, baby. Yellowtail is the softest fish you're ever gonna lay your jaws on! It melts in your mouth. You ain't even gotta chew. And I like everything spicy so I get the Yellowtail jalapeño slices.

The Fattest Burger at The Fat Bar. Well, you know it's about the location.

Why do you enjoy going there?
Meeting new people at Tao, Fat Bar for the burgers. It's about the location and at that particular location, sitting at the Fat Bar. It's the only place you can get a burger and a beer and sit out on the Strip and people watch.

[I also like] this Chinese joint, Long Jin Chinese Cuisine, on the corner of Tropicana and Rainbow. Ah, you know, I'm doing the shrimp and broccoli. I'm doing the hot and sour soup. I'm doing the shrimp fried rice and my kids love the orange chicken.
