Box of chocolates not included. A Forrest Gump photo-op awaits at Harmon Corner, as the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. has put out their park benches and more themed merchandise than you probably thought possible.
The 1994 movie Forrest Gump was narrated by a bench sitting Tom Hanks and the quasi-replica at many of the Landry's seafood chain milk that memory. The first Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. to be built in Las Vegas upgrades to two benches flanking the main entrance.
While the chain's 33rd location nears completion, stocking the shelves has finished ahead of schedule. To reach the actual restaurant requires navigating the almost finished gift shop, replete with abundant movie tie-in logo products, including slogans such as "I lost my tail in Las Vegas," "Run, Forrest, Run!" and "Las Vegas. That's all I have to say about that!"
A staircase decorated with movie memorabilia leads to the upper floor restaurant, featuring the bonus attraction of an outside patio facing the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and Crystals shopping center. The Southern and Cajun cuisine merged with a family friendly atmosphere will be competing with the more adult focused "breastaurant," Twin Peaks, being constructed on the opposite side of the retail center. Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. promises a December opening.
