Has Gordon Ramsay teased the name of his new Planet Hollywood Resort burger joint via Twitter? After vacillating between Flame Burger or Gordon Ramsay BurGR, a Gordo tweet to a fan appears to have spilled the beans.
Responding to design praise for his unfinished Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill at Caesars Palace, Ramsay tweeted, "2 weeks to go can't wait ! Watch out for BurGR also." Two weeks would mean a Dec. 16 open for the gastropub concept. Insider information discovered by Eater Vegas revealed a Dec. 23 soft opening for his Strip burger joint.
Ramsay recently cocked a snoot at common sense by moving to trademark the name "The Spotted Pig" for a possible future U.K. venture, kyboshing the chances of owners of the exact same-name New York restaurant — Mario Batali, Ken Friedman and April Bloomfield — from opening a version over the pond.
On U.S. soil, Ramsay's company waited all the way until last month to register a U.S. trademark for BurGR, suggesting Flame Burger was still in with a fighting chance. Particularly as the flame motif was such a strong component of the visual identity.
Current observation of the harried construction at BurGR indicates the floor is ready, the complex roof design continues to require work and painting and installation of fixtures and fittings has increased in pace.
