How many chefs does it take to break the Guinness World Record for the most people uncorking wine simultaneously? On Feb. 29, it will take 300. Chefs from the restaurants involved in Vegas Uncork’d plan to shatter the record previously set last May when they gather at the Bellagio’s pool.
The current record for the “most people uncorking wine simultaneously” is 252, set after the James Beard Foundation's annual awards ceremony and led by wine educator and author Kevin Zraly, who was presented the JBF’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Chefs from the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and Mandalay Bay plan to break the record after the final portion of programming and ticket sales for the sixth annual Vegas Uncork’d are announced. Once the bottles have been uncorked, guests throughout Bellagio can join the celebration by sipping on a glass of wine.
On hand for the event will be Adam Rapoport, Bon Appétit Magazine’s editor-in-chief, Michael Mina, Julian Serrano and Jason Smith from the Bellagio, Anthony Meidenbauer, Gerald Chin, Stephen Hopcraft and Costas Spiliadis from the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and Hubert Keller, Rick Moonen and Mike Minor from Mandalay Bay. We’re still waiting on confirmation of chefs from Caesars Palace.
