Restaurant critic John Curtas is still pissed about Max Jacobson and Brock Radke’s reviews of Lynyrd Skynyrd BBQ & Beer at the Excalibur. In the past two weeks, the food writers for Vegas Seven and Las Vegas Weekly respectively gave good reviews to the barbecue joint. And Curtas couldn’t disagree more. Last night, he joined Al Mancini on Top of the Food Chain to vent his frustrations.
“I think what they do is they get lazy. They go there. They get the PR schmooze and they end up going hey, this meat is great. Here’s what they told me. The owners went all over America to find the best barbecue. ?and they write good things and they don’t even think about what the food is all about.”
But Curtas isn’t done with Radke. As he puts it, “He also gave a big blowjob to Mastro’s."
The point being that when you offer opinions on food, you have to work your way up to earn the readers’ trust. “You can lose your credibility like you can your trustworthiness like that. All you have to do is give a big blowjob to Mastro’s,” Curtas says.
Oh, the duo talks about Las Vegas Restaurant Week as well. Curtas and Mancini pick out their favorite places on the menu for the two-week extravaganza.
