First Vegas, now Sydney?!?! Noah Tepperberg, Jason Strauss, Marc Packer, Lou Abin and Rich Wolf of the Tao Group are getting ready to bring their NY-style brand of hospitality across the Pacific as they get set to open an Aussie outpost of Marquee inside The Star Hotel and Casino on March 30.
We caught up with Tepperberg, who excitedly spoke with us about his company’s first venture into the overseas market and notes that they are bringing a couple of Vegas folks to head up the marketing team, including Bob Shindelar, who ran the door and marketing at Tao Vegas for years.
This all comes as the Star City Casino undergoes an $800-plus million transformation that has also attracted the likes of David Chang to the project. We are told to expect an “American feel,” but Tepperberg and Co. have “went out of our way to give it a Sydney vibe and adapt to local market. It will be under 20,000 square feet and a feel like a hybrid between Marquee NY and Vegas.”
Marquee at the Cosmopolitan was just named the Mega-Club of the Year by Nightclub and Bar Media Group. —David Morris
