Cedar’s, the Mediterranean cafe across from UNLV, was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on March 21, racking up an astonishing 48 demerits.
Inspectors found staff not washing their hands or using gloves, spoiled food, food not stored at the proper temperature and food exposed to contamination during the routine inspection among the violations.
Three previous inspections found nine, 18 and 8 demerits. In 2011, the restaurant earned 18 demerits on Aug. 3, followed by eight demerits during a re-inspection 15 days later.
We don’t think UNLV students will notice. Even on Yelp, only one person reviewed the restaurant and gave it two stars.
