The Golden Gate issued a statement to Vegas Chatter regarding the shut down of Du-Par’s Restaurant & Bakery Kitchen by the Southern Nevada Health District last week.
“Dupar’s whole philosophy on food is fresh, house-made menu items, which requires a lot of prep. They are doing this in a small, old-fashioned kitchen. Recently, as Golden Gate’s deli was closed to make way for renovations, the property had re-directed the deli’s business to the diner, putting additional stress on the kitchen. On the day of the inspection, they were particularly slammed and key management personnel were off.
"They are proud of their fresh, traditional food and were devastated by what happened. They are re-organizing both management structure and systems to deal with the extraordinary business volumes and ensure this type of situation doesn’t occur again.”
The restaurant racked up 62 demerits Feb. 28, cleaned up and re-opened the next day after a re-inspection.
It got Eater Vegas thinking. Would you return to a restaurant that had been shut down by the health department? Take our poll below and leave a comment if you feel compelled.
