Is Momofuku's David Chang Planning a Move to Cosmo?

New, 5 comments

Could David Chang of Momofuku fame in New York City be considering a move to Vegas? John Curtas reports on his blog that the chef was spotted at Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas last week. As he says, Wynn Las Vegas had been chasing the chef in 2008.

“We also know that certain p.r. folks were seriously courting Chang to open shop at the Wynncore way back in 2008. These same folks, who have asked for anonymity but [whose] initials are Amy Rossetti, now reside at The Cosmo.”

By that, he means director of public relations at Cosmopolitan Amy Rossetti, who was in charge of food and beverage PR at Wynn in 2008. “David was in town for fun and we have a long-standing relationship,” Rossetti said in an email to Eater Vegas.

Sue Chan with Momofuku also told Eater Vegas, "Dave was in Vegas, but he was just visiting some friends. There’s nothing more to report."

Cosmopolitan has been working on completion of phase II and the final phase (III) is still in the works per their annual report. "An approximately 65,000-square-foot, 1,800 seat showroom, the top 4 floors of the East Tower and a restaurant space (the “Future Phases”) will be completed at a later date as management deems appropriate based on various factors, including market conditions," according to the resort’s SEC filing.

Chang has multiple outposts of Momofuku in New York City, Toronto and Sydney, along with Milk Bar.

On top of that, Questlove from The Roots just launched his residency at Moon Nightclub at the Palms. The two recently went head-to-head in a fried chicken battle on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and it could make for an epic battle here in Vegas.
