Come Friday, Las Vegas will have a new bakery from pastry chef extraordinaire Megan Romano. Chocolate & Spice Bakery opens its doors after much anticipation just in time for the weekend. Romano was the pastry chef at Aureole at Mandalay Bay as well as the now-shuttered Lespinasse in New York and the soon-to-be closing Charlie Trotter in Chicago.
Expect to find an early morning menu that includes coffee and breakfast frittatas and pastries including a caramel sticky brioche bun. For lunch, sandwiches and salads including a vine ripe tomato, watermelon and mozzarella salad or toasted garlic broccolini and penne pasta.
Of course, any Romano venture wouldn’t be complete without desserts. Bon bons, truffles and bark make the menu along with ice creams and shakes. Tarts, pies and cakes can be picked up or custom ordered. Romano plans to offer her family recipe banana vanilla bean cream pie, a tequila lime chocolate bar, chocolate chip and tangerine zest cookies, almond rocher with fleur de sel and a dark chocolate truffle cake.
