On the heels of news of Joël Robuchon’s shutter of L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in New York City at the Four Seasons on June 30 comes news that the acclaimed French chef has eyes for Los Angeles. Eater LA reports that the chef with 28 Michelin stars worldwide checked out the digs of the former Philippe digs on Melrose Avenue, but the space just wasn’t right for him.
Robuchon already has L’Atelier and his namesake restaurants here at the MGM Grand. Now rumors are swirling that he may expand his empire on the West Coast with a little help from Wolfgang Puck, who told Robuchon that Beverly Hills would be a perfect fit for his less pricey L’Atelier (think $200 a pop instead of $500).
Eater LA chatted with an MGM Resorts rep about the possibility, and “this individual claimed to not know anything about such plans.” Stay tuned.
