Bally’s Steakhouse, the home of the Sterling Brunch at Bally’s Las Vegas for 25 years, came within one point of being shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on July 25.
Inspectors found spoiled food, food from unapproved sources, food unprotected from contamination and more, landing the restaurant with 40 demerits and a C grade.
Inspections dating back to 1994 show all A grades except in 2001 and 2010, when it received B grades that were upgraded within two days of the inspections. Two other times the restaurant was under epidemiological investigations in 2003 and 2004 and passed muster with inspectors.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits.
In other SNHD news, Golden China at 3830 E. Flamingo Road landed 58 demerits on July 25, calling for an immediate closure. Inspectors found the staff wasn’t washing their hands and the restaurant was operating outside the parameters of its health permit among the violations.
Bangkok 9 at 663 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson also found itself shut down by SNHD on July 23 with 56 demerits. Spoiled food, a lack a hand washing and other violations shuttered the restaurant.
