26 Vegas Restaurants You May Want To Avoid

The Southern Nevada Health District has been busy shutting down restaurants such as Los Antojos. But just because a restaurant didn’t receive more than 40 demerits during an inspection doesn’t mean everything is kosher in the kitchen.

Any restaurant that receives 21 to 41 demerits is given a C grade, and the establishment can request a reinspection before its next scheduled inspection.

Here’s a look at the restaurants that still have a C grade from the SNHD. Might want to avoid these 26 places until they can clean up their kitchens.

Aloha Hawaiian BBQ at 4990 W. Craig Road landed 36 demerits after a routine inspection on July 27. Violations included food not properly cooled, food stored or displayed at the wrong temperature and food unprotected from potential contamination.

Kyara at 6555 S. Jones Blvd. received 29 demerits during a routine inspection on July 26. The staff wasn’t washing their hands properly and food was unprotected from potential contamination.

Thai Place at 4019 S. Maryland Parkway was closed by the SNHD after a reinspection on July 26. Food wasn’t stored at the proper temperature and was cooled improperly.

HK Seafood at 4300 Spring Mountain Road landed 22 demerits and a C grade during a routine inspection on July 26. Food wasn’t stored or displayed at a proper temperature and it wasn’t protected from potential contamination.

Cafe Rio — Shadow Mountain at 6575 N. Decatur Blvd. received 37 demerits during a routine inspection on July 26. The staff wasn’t washing their hands properly, food was stored at improper temperatures and contact surfaces weren’t properly sanitized.

SNHD handed Mandarin Express at 6895 E. Lake Mead Blvd. 29 demerits during a routine inspection on July 25. Violations included staff washing their hands improperly and food stored at improper temperatures.

Sumo Restaurant at 8795 W. Warm Springs Road landed in hot water with the SNHD when it received 31 demerits during a routine inspection on July 24. The staff wasn’t washing their hands properly and food was protected from potential contamination from chemicals.

Ohana Hawaiian Barbeque at 1500 N. Green Valley Pkwy. in Henderson nabbed 28 demerits during a routine inspection on July 24. Inspectors found that the restaurant wasn’t operating with the parameters of a health permit among the violations.

Angelina’s Pizzeria at 5025 S. Eastern Ave. found itself within one point of shut down by the SNHD when it received 40 demerits on July 24. Inspectors found spoiled food, staff not washing their hands properly and food cooled improperly during the routine inspection.

Breakfast favorite Egg Works at 6960 S. Rainbow Blvd. nabbed 29 demerits during a routine inspection on July 24. Inspectors found an inadequate number of hand washing facilities, food unprotected from contamination and more among the violations.

The Rebel Convenience Store deli at 1720 W. Charleston Blvd. received 19 demerits on July 24. The routine inspection found that the deli wasn’t operating within the parameters of a health permit, ineffective pest control measures and more during the routine inspection.

Jenni Pho at 7855 S. Rainbow Blvd. earned 36 demerits during a routine inspection on July 23. The restaurant did not post B or C grade cards from previous inspections and more.

Two Sisters Supermarket Meat at 1000 N. Rancho Drive earned 33 demerits during a routine inspection on July 20. Inspectors found that the place had no hot and cold running water from an approved source and an imminently dangerous cross connection or back flow of waste water.

Applebee’s at 3340 S. Maryland Pkwy. found itself with 30 demerits after a routine inspection on July 20. Inspectors found spoiled food and that the staff didn’t wash their hands properly.

Samurai Japanese Bar at 1199 W. Sunset Road in Henderson landed 29 demerits during a routine inspection on July 20. The staff was handling ready-to-eat foods with their bare hands and contact surfaces weren’t properly sanitized.

The employee dining room at the Hard Rock Hotel received 17 demerits during a reinspection. Inspectors found spoiled food and food unprotected from contamination among the violations.

Inspectors found 25 demerits at Roberto’s Taco Shop at 6355 E. Russell Road when they came in on July 18. The restaurant lacked hot and cold handling equipment and food was unprotected from contamination.

Johnny Fontane’s Beach House Bar at 5310 W. Sahara Ave. earned 32 demerits on July 17. Inspectors discovered spoiled food, food unprotected from a chemical contamination and more during the routine inspection.

Downtown’s Sim’po Sandwich at 300 E. Charleston Blvd. came close to closure when it received 38 demerits on July 17. Spoiled food, no hand washing and operating outside the parameters of a health permit were just some of the violations.

Little Hong Kong 4375 Las Vegas Blvd. nabbed 24 demerits on July 17. The routine inspection found ineffective pest control measures, food unprotected from potential contamination and more.

Garden Cafe at 7435 S. Eastern Ave. came within one point of shut down when inspectors gave the restaurant 39 demerits on July 16. The routine inspection uncovered staff not washing their hands properly, food unprotected from potential contamination and the restaurant operating outside the parameters of a health permit.

Inspectors found 23 demerits at Mariana’s Supermarkets Restaurant at 4151 S. Eastern Ave. during a routine inspection on July 12. Items weren’t properly thawed, food was stored at proper temperatures and food contact surfaces weren’t properly sanitized.

Siri Thai Restaurant at 2605 Windmill Pkwy. in Henderson landed 37 demerits during a routine inspection on July 10. The restaurant didn’t have effective pest control measures, staff didn’t wash their hands properly and food was unprotected from potential contamination.

Bread and Butter landed 37 demerits at 10940 S. Eastern Ave. in Henderson during a routine inspection on July 6. The restaurant had spoiled food, food unprotected from potential contamination and inaccurate thermometers.

I Love Burgers at the Palazzo earned 33 demerits during a routine inspection on July 5. The restaurant had commercially manufactured food from unapproved sources, the staff didn’t wash their hands properly and food was unprotected from potential contamination.

Tacos Mexico at 3575 W. Tropicana Ave. received 26 demerits during a routine inspection on July 5. Contaminated food, food unprotected from contamination and more were among the violations.
