Chef to the chefs Sammy DeMarco is well on his way to opening a second Vegas location, this one inside the Venetian near the sports book with an entrance on the palazzo facing Las Vegas Boulevard. Rattlecan, a gourmet burger joint named for the spray cans used by graffiti artists, plans to open this fall.
The restaurant plans to feature an outdoor balcony with seating for 100 people. Inside, find large-scale art installations done by "five or six of the world's most prominent graffiti artists." Designer Antonio Ballatore, who was the Season 4 champion of HGTV's Design Star and stars on The Antonio Treatment, has been tweeting photos of some of the art, including "laser-branded table tops with QR codes telling the story of each artist involved."
The menu predominately features gourmet burgers, but a large bar will carry a large assortment of craft beers and spirits. "The ambience will be high-energy, hip, down and dirty."
In the spring, DeMarco talked about adding pickled items, including shots of Jameson with pickle juice, to the menu as well.
DeMarco already has First Food & Bar at the Palazzo, and opened Sammy D's in Atlantic City, N.J., last January as well as The Merrywell in Melbourne, Australia, in the spring. Next month, a second Merrywell opens in Perth, Australia.
