The $17 Million Food Orgy Is on at Bacchanal Buffet

Location: Caesars Palace
Phone: 702-731-7928
Status: Opened at 7 a.m.

All hail Caesar, the home of the new food orgy known as Bacchanal Buffet, the $17 million extravaganza taking over the home of the former Lago Buffet. Come hungry to try the 500 items touted on the menu.

Plan extra time to wander the nine kitchens housed under one roof. Over there, Mexican food with enchiladas, tortillas and sopapillas. Look over there for pastas, baked lasagna and antipasto. Then over there, it's wok-fried dishes and dim sum. OMG, then there's the sushi and sashimi served up fresh. Holy cow, then there's barbecued house-smoked meats from a wood-burning smoker and wood-burning grill and carving stations for prime rib, brisket and rotisserie chicken. There's still room for East and West Coast oysters, King crab, snow crab, stone crab, mussels and prawns. And then over there, pizza from a wood-burning oven. Still hungry? The deli serves up soup, cheeses, seven charcuterie selections and salads. Still have room left? Dessert comes in the form of chocolate, vanilla and pistachio soufflés baked to order, gelatos, sorbets and crème brûlée.

Dishes make their way to the plate via live action stations with about 80 percent of the cooking done right in front of the guests. Sample a variety of flavors with the mini-dishes.

The buffet gets its name from the former Bacchanal at Caesars Palace, the Roman feast that closed at the resort in 2000.

Bacchanal Buffet plans to be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily with a $25 per person check average.
