The food in Chinatown is about to get a bit more interesting. Lotus of Siam's sommelier Bank Atcharawan announced he was retiring from the restaurant in July. Now he's planning to open Chada Thai & Wine in the same shopping center as China Mama.
Atcharawan, the nephew of Lotus of Siam co-owner Bill Chutima, served as the wine buyer and head sommelier at the Thai restaurant. He developed the wine list there from five to more than 1,300 varieties on the 73-page wine list. Lotus carries more than 700 selections of Reislings alone, so expect the same at Chada Thai & Wine.
Right now, the space is cloaked in newspapers covering the front window. The website says they're still getting their spices ready.
