As if chef to the chefs Sammy DeMarco doesn't have enough on his hands with the opening of Rattlecan, his burger and pickle joint at the Venetian in October, he's also opening a second The Merrywell, this time in Perth, Australia. On Saturday, the gastropub he co-owns with chef Grant MacPherson, the former executive chef at the Bellagio and Wynn Las Vegas, opens at the Crown Metropol.
The pair already has The Merrywell, which opened in April, in Melbourne?s Crown Hotel.
The Merrywell Perth showcases dude food, dishes meant to split, such as mac and cheese bites or lollipop Buffalo wings, along with a steak for two dubbed The Caveman, weighing in at 1,200 grams. Other dishes include fried chicken and waffles, The Merrywell burger and Grandma Grecco?s chicken parma. Lots of pork dishes make the menu as well as dishes featuring American, Asian and Mexican ingredients.
The restaurant features 12 beers on tap, including Peroni, Little Creatures Pale Ale, Matso's Mango, 4 Pines Hefeweizen and Dirty Granny Cider, as well as bottle beers such as James Squire, Furstenberg and Budvar. It even has an outdoor beer garden.
DeMarco, who also has First Food & Bar at the Palazzo, returns to the United States Oct. 1 to put the finishing touches on Rattlecan before an Oct. 15 opening.
