Checking in on Chris Herrin's Meat & Three, opening as soon as Oct. 1 in Henderson, it looks like the community table is in and the tables are getting ready to be put together.
Herrin already has Bread & Butter in the same shopping plaza. This week, the breakfast and lunch spot celebrated its one-year anniversary.
Meat & Three plans to be a Southern cafeteria-style restaurant where guests choose one meat option and three side dishes. Look for beef brisket, fried chicken and Salisbury steak along with scalloped mashed potatoes, hushpuppies and fried artichokes on the menu. Bread & Butter will supply the biscuits and cornbread.
Once complete, Herrin says the restaurant can seat 40 at capacity. "I promise one day to build a place big enough so you don't have to sit on your neighbors lap," Herrin said on Facebook.
