The Epicurean Charitable Foundation of Las Vegas hosts its 11th annual scholarship fund-raiser this Friday at the M Resort. The poolside event takes place at the Villaggio Del Sole Pool and Entertainment Piazza starting at 7 p.m.
More than 30 restaurants including Gordon Ramsay Steak, Hubert Keller's Fleur, Shawn McClain's Sage, Carla Pellegrino's Bratalian and more will be on hand to sample dishes. The Counting Crows — yes, the actual band behind "Round Here," "Mr. Jones" and "Accidently in Love" — will provide the entertainment.
The event honors Jim E. Rogers, the founder and owner of Intermountain West Communications.
For the past 11 years, the event has used proceeds for a scholarship program that helps students who study the hospitality and culinary industries. Each student attending the University of Nevada Las Vegas receives a $28,000 scholarship to cover the expenses associated with tuition, fees and book purchases while out-of-state students receive up to a $48,000 scholarship to cover educational expenses.
Rich people alert. Tickets start at $500 per person with tables of 10 starting at $5,000. Guests who pony up a $20,000 or more donation receive a four-course dinner from top chefs and private VIP seating for the concert with private wait and bar service. For tickets, call 702-932-5098 or e-mail elizabeth@ecflv.org. [EaterWire]
