Kokomo's Now Shuttered to Make Way for Tom Colicchio

Now the era of Tom Colicchio having a restaurant at the Mirage begins. Kokomo's closed yesterday to make way to the Top Chef judge's yet-unnamed restaurant. Colicchio already has the sandwich shop 'wichcraft and Craftsteak, which he opened in 2002, at the MGM Grand.

His newest meat-centric restaurant plans to open in summer 2013 with 250 seats that will focus on "meats prepared entirely over an open flame — from wood-burning ovens to charcoal grills," according to a press release.

Bental+Bental is behind the decor of Colicchio's new restaurant and plan to use natural materials. The restaurant itself will feature a hearth and emphasize a campfire setting.
