The changes at Mandalay Bay are coming fast an furious since the resort announced the Delano was taking over THEhotel last summer.
Now comes word that three new food and beverage spaces will get makeovers. First up, the sushi restaurant Mizuya will undergo a renovation, says Mandalay Bay president Chuck Bowling in an interview with Vegas Inc.
Shanghai Lily, which shuttered in November 2011 and was long rumored to be the new home to RM Seafood, will get a makeover. Word on the street says the space will become a sports bar.
The food court near the convention center will also get a makeover with more branded names coming to the space this summer.
Already the resort has Citizens Kitchen & Bar opening in the former Red, White and Blue space by the end of the month. Chef Brian Massie from The Light Group is behind the comfort food cuisine available 24/7.
The Light Group also has a new restaurant from Akira Back, the snowboarder turned chef at Yellowtail at Bellagio, going in the China Grill space. The Japanese restaurant will pushed back its opening from March to April, according to Bowling. Rumored names include Akira and the more literal Maki The Art of Sushi.
Light Nightclub, a joint venture with The Light Group and Cirque du Soleil, takes over the long-vacant Rumjungle space with a 38,000-square-foot nightclub that will feature theatrics, deejays and performers. Look for a March opening.
The Light Group also plans to open a dayclub that replicates Ushuaia, the Ibiza club, in the Landshark Lagoon space. The 60,000 square feet of club space plans to open for summer.
Red Square, now operated by The Light Group, also completed its renovation in December.
