Food Trucks May Land Parking Spaces Downtown

Food trucks may soon have a little more room to operate legally in Downtown Las Vegas. Three months ago, the Las Vegas City Council prohibited food trucks from parking within 150 feet of a restaurant. Now comes word that the city is considering a proposal for three food truck-only parking spaces, which go for $5 an hour.

The three spaces near the Regional Justice Center, Bonneville Transit Center and Las Vegas City Hall will come before the city council Feb. 6. The proposal includes a lottery system by the business licensing department to divvy up the spaces.

So far, the program would be implemented for six months, after which changes such as additional parking spaces could be made.
