Could La Cave Take Over the Nobhill Tavern Space?

New, 8 comments

The changes coming to the MGM Grand keep coming. Word on the street says the Michael Mina's Nobhill Tavern will be the next to go at the resort, replaced by restauranteur Michael Morton's second outpost of La Cave Food & Wine Hideaway. A source close to the project says the switch will happen after 1842 Pub, Mina's coming restaurant that takes the place of Seablue, opens.

Morton, who co-founded the N9NE Group and whose father created Morton's Steakhouse, is already in the midst of revamping a former laundry for El Cortez into La Comida in Downtown Las Vegas. That restaurant, which should open in March, will feature an entrance through the alley, dining from a 25-foot cocktail bar, church windows and a window overlooking Sixth Street with bar stools for seating. The menu will include dishes such as street corn, tacos and fresh avocados.

He already has La Cave at Wynn Las Vegas.

Mina's Seablue closed in August to make way for 1842 Pub, which will focus on craft beer, snacks, shellfish, sausage and burgers, a menu familiar to the Mina brand and adds plenty of vintage design accents.
