Now the Nevada Gaming Commission has approved an agreement to fine the Palms $1 million after an investigation earlier this year found nightclub employees offering drugs and prostitutes to undercover officers.
The state filed a 17-count complaint against the Palms on Jan. 11. The agreement gives the resort four months to pay the $1 million fine, plus $78,000 in investigation fees.
During the investigation in March through May, undercover officers found 13 nightclub hosts, security guards and bottle runners were all offering sex and drugs at Moon Nightclub, Ghostbar, the now-closed Rain Nightclub and Ditch Fridays pool parties.
During the three-month sting, officers found a bottle runner at Rain offering to supply one of the officers with as much as a pound of cocaine for $18,000. Security guards guarded private rooms and cabanas so officers could do drugs. One report even found a prostitute who was willing to perform sex acts for $2,000.
The settlement also includes a new security staff, revamped operations policies, drug tests on employees, an employee whistleblower hotlines and mystery shoppers to prevent illegal activity.
