Angelo Sosa, the chef who appeared on Top Chef season 7 and Top Chef All Stars, kicked off his new year by opening Poppy Den, a 5,400-square-foot restaurant with a rustic ambiance in Tivoli Village. The Asian gastropub, Sosa's first in Vegas, takes over the former Petra space.
Sosa took his travels through Asia and used his experiences to create a menu he hopes diners will experience through all their senses. For Sosa, the symbolism of the poppy comes through as passion in his combination of Asian flavors.
The venue itself features two levels, each with a rustic feel. Upstairs, the Den, a casual cocktail lounge featuring a library of sakes, hand-crafted cocktails, beers and wines. Outside, the restaurant will feature a poppy garden just off the main dining room.
