Starting now, we've enlisted comedians, some based here and others who spend their time on the road and come through Vegas, to share their recommendations on great places to dine in Sin City for a feature dubbed Comedian Confidential.
The dynamic duo the Wayans Brothers have been making people laugh since starring their Emmy Award-winning comedy series In Living Color almost 20 years ago and haven't stopped since. Shawn and Marlon Wayans continued to stay in front of the camera with their sitcom The Wayans Bros. in the 1990s and more recently starred in the popular films Scary Movie and White Chicks. The brothers perform in Las Vegas regularly, most recently over the New Year's weekend at the Orleans. Here, Shawn Wayans talks about his favorite spots to eat when he is in Las Vegas.
Where do you enjoy eating when you're not working?
Nobu in the Hard Rock Hotel, Spago, the Wolfgang Puck restaurant, at the Forum Shops at Caesars and all Encore restaurants. I'm kind of a creature of habit. Usually when I'm there, it's so crowded there that you have to pick your food places or you will be stuck in traffic. I try to pick wherever I'm close to. I try to stay close to the good food.
What dishes are most memorable?
It depends on my state (laughs). Before I get drunk, I like healthy some fish some, some rolls, some seaweed salad. Nobu has pretty good fish. After I'm drunk some pizza, either three cheese or pepperoni at Spago.
Why do you enjoy going there?
Convenience. They are both convenient. Nobu has a cool atmosphere you know kind of like the whole in crowd that's going out a lot people like to go there and eat. There's also something called Tao Asian Bistro in the Venetian that's a good Asian grill. They bring you a bunch of shit and you just split it with everybody, but I like the chicken egg rolls there.
I go there because I know what food they make, I know I'm a like it and I don't like taking chances when I'm in Vegas. It's not like you get to eat all day long the food that you want. You're out of town, so you got to choose wisely or you'll starve.
I would love to see a Mr Chow restaurant in Vegas. I don't know if that's going to happen, but that's what I would love to see.
