Here's a bizarre move. Las Vegas chef Alex Stratta, who formerly had the two Michelin starred Alex at Wynn Las Vegas until it shuttered in 2011, just accepted the executive chef role at Scott Conant's Beverly Hills outpost of Scarpetta in the Montage.
Stratta had been consulting with Marche Bacchus in the interim since Alex and Stratta at Wynn closed. The Top Chef Masters contestant tried to make a run with Bigoli in New York. Unfortunately, the space was shuttered and Stratta returned to Vegas.
Eater LA reports that, "Stratta is already in Los Angeles and on site at the Montage, he has yet to hit Scarpetta's kitchen."
Conant says he's thrilled to have Stratta on board. "His goal was to get 'the best available chef on the market.'"
Stratta plans to collaborate with Conant on a seasonal Italian menu.
