Downtown's Gold Spike is moving to establish itself as a major destination space for outdoor events and is making sure that includes local food trucks. Since their dramatic remodel into a non-gaming, non-smoking, lounge-style destination, the large property under the watchful eye of the Downtown Project has been trying to find its true role in the area. Plans are now on track to turn two of the property's parking lots into year round, temporary venue spaces.

The 41,566-square foot additions are located on the the side and rear of the former casino and hotel. Hosting temporary festivals and other live events on their own land would ease City event regulations and specifically those limiting the location of food trucks in the downtown district.
