The pizza world turned on its collective ear on Saturday when Pizza Rock made its monster-truck big debut in Downtown Vegas.
George Karpaty, Tony Gemignani and Trevor Hewitt created this concept that combines Karpaty and Hewitt's nightlife experience with Gemignani's mantel of pizza trophies.
Look for gourmet pizzas in a variety of styles, hand-crafted artisan cocktails, an extensive wine list and more than 30 craft beers on tap and in bottles. The 185-seat restaurant designed by Michael Boskovich and constructed by Terra Nova Industries uses four different ovens to create Neapolitan, classic Italian, classic American, Sicilian, Roman and gluten-free pies. Highlights include Gemignani's Sicilian-style Burratina Di Margherita, which won the Gold Cup Pizza Championships Leece, Italy; Napoletana-style Margherita, which won the World Pizza Cup Naples, Italy; and Cal Italia, which won the Gold Medal in Food Network Pizza Champions Challenge.
Pastas, calzones, Stromboli, antipasti and salads also make the menu as does house-made vanilla soft serve ice cream.
Next on tap, an acoustic Sunday brunch with specialty breakfast pizzas along with a twist on classics like meatball hash and eggs, eggs Benedict with pancetta and French toast made with focaccia bread.
Deejays spin Thursday through Saturday nights.
The restaurant is open Sunday through Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to midnight and Thursday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 a.m.
