Santa Fe Mining Co., the neighborhood pub at 5021 N. Rainbow Blvd., was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on Oct. 18 after a re-inspection revealed 24 demerits.
SNHD originally inspected the restaurant on Oct. 10, ticking off 23 demerits for the restaurant. The re-inspection found spoiled food, staff not properly washing their hands, food unprotected from contamination and more.
Previous inspections dating back to 1996 show a series of A grades in the beginning followed by a smattering of B and C grades starting in 2009.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
