The striking contemporary glass, metal sheen of City Hall will be a future host for downtown's first Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich Shop. Tucked into a corner of the building, the floor-to-ceiling glass storefront will incorporate a 1,229-square-foot restaurant and add a 546-square-foot patio. The mirrored effect of the glass exterior tends to hide the locale, so a lit company logo sign is proposed to be fixed to the corner of the building .
A 60-month lease gives the franchise some security in the area and for opportunities further afield. Sandwiches will also be distributed via bike delivery drivers. Inside, the space is designed as a grab-and-go joint, with only two booths and two counters for dine-in customers. But two long banquettes will be built for waiting on what the company calls, the "World's Greatest Gourmet Sandwiches."
Across the street from City Hall, the under construction MTO Cafe is readying to provide a rival breakfast and lunch option for government workers.
