The long-vacant Dos Caminos at the Palazzo may finally have a new Southern-fried tenant to call this coop home. Rumors point to Yardbird Southern Table & Bar out of Miami opening in the space. Yardbird's parent company 50 Eggs announced back in April that it had plans to come to Vegas.
Yardbird was a James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Best New Restaurant and Best Chef South in 2012. Bon Appétit named it one of the 50 best new restaurants last year as well.
Sadly, Jeff McInnis, the Top Chef alum who opened the restaurant in Miami to accolades, is no longer involved, leaving over the summer to open a Southern-American restaurant called Root & Bone in the East Village in New York City.
The restaurant serves up a menu of classic Southern cooking as well as the hospitality that goes with it. Fried chicken is the specialty here, but deviled eggs, fried green tomato BLT, Mama's chicken biscuits, shrimp and grits and chicken, watermelon and waffles make the menu in Miami.
The restaurant also serves up brunch on Saturdays and Sundays with dishes such as a cheddar waffle, BLT Benedict casserole and a jar of cornbread.
Dos Caminos abruptly shuddered at the Palazzo in November 2011 after a lease dispute with the resort. Since, the restaurant has been used as special event space.
