It's been a tough year for chef Todd English's signature Olives restaurants. First, the original Olives shuttered in Boston's Charlestown. And now gossip columnist Norm Clarke first tweeted the surprising news the Bellagio has not renewed the chef's contract to run his Las Vegas incarnation.
A Bellagio representative was quick to confirm the seamless nature of the forthcoming changeover. Early next year Olives will receive a new name and a new menu. The staff will remain unchanged and the restaurant will not close during the switcheroo. The restaurant's famed patio and views of the Bellagio fountains will also remain in place.
The Mediterranean inspired Olives was among the first wave of restaurants on the property when the Bellagio debuted in October 1998. English still operates the Todd English P.U.B. at Crystals.
