Don't call it a comeback, he's been here for years. If you've missed the high energy persona of chef Sammy DeMarco since the demise of First Food & Bar and Rattlecan at the Venetian, you'll have a chance to see a lot more of him in 2014.

The Travel Channel has given the green light to produce 13 half-hour episodes of Chow Masters starring the Las Vegas resident. The original TV concept will be helmed by Paperny Entertainment.

Details are currently under wraps, apart from the official press release:

"Chef Sammy DeMarco and best friend/Hollywood director Frank Coraci hit the road to find the tastiest and most creative comfort food in America. City by city, their quest takes them "off the map" searching for the three most innovative and delicious twists on comfort food classics. The chow buddies sample the entries and judge which contender will win a $10,000 cash prize and the Golden Skillet award."

Frank Coraci's resume includes directing three Adam Sandler mega-hits Click, The Waterboy and The Wedding Singer.

The chef has been been keeping himself extra busy with Sammy D's at Harrah's in Atlantic City and his Australian gastropub ventures, The Merrywell, in Perth and Melbourne. He's also worked on the menu for former Rattelcan colleague Antonio Ballatore's new Fame bar in Chicago. Murmurings of Sammy D launching a new Las Vegas concept been gathering steam for months, including his own Twittter feed hints he has a project in mind.
