One of Frank Sinatra's favorite restaurants has closed. La Scala, the Italian restaurant in the Mark I Towers on Desert Inn Road on the east side, shuttered.
Two years ago the restaurant went through a renovation with fresh paint, new décor, a mister cooling system and heaters for the outdoor patio. The restaurant was named for Teatro alla Scala, The Opera House in Milan, Italy.
Originally the restaurant was called Vesuvio. It's table No. 9 was a favorite of crooner Sinatra while mob mogul Sam Giancana and actor Joe Pesci frequented the place.
