Wondering what will happen to the original Firefly Tapas Kitchen & Bar on Paradise Road? To recap, last April it was the site of a massive salmonella outbreak where 294 people reported symptoms to the Southern Nevada Health District. SNHD shut the place down, investigated and found chorizo to be the culprit. Owner John Simmons already had plans to move Firefly down the street. But that leaves a vacant original location.
While he has no plans to open more Firefly locations (he already has two additional locations on West Sahara Avenue and in Henderson), he does plan to convert the original Firefly into a beer and tacos joint.
"I am working on a new place, though — a Mexican restaurant in the old Firefly space on Paradise. I have some great local people who are going to be my partners. We hope to open early next year. The working title is Tacos & Beer. It's going to be mid-priced, with great street tacos and Mexican food, and a couple dozen craft beers on tap."
