MTO Cafe, Pizza Rock, Pub 1842 and More Reviewed

Max Jacobson heads to Pizza Rock and MTO Cafe to see what each has done to revitalize the Downtown Vegas dining scene.

At MTO, he says chef Johnny Church "should be knighted for his breakfasts alone." "All products here are organic and top shelf, from the Mary's Chicken used in the chicken and waffles to the Harry's Berries that come with house-made vanilla whipped cream."

He says his favorite dish at Pizza Rock is the Romana, divided into thirds with each section covered with different toppings. Another don't miss? The house-made mud pie "is the best version of this treat I've ever tasted." [VS]

HKR didn't care for the menu at Michael Mina's Pub 1842 at the MGM Grand. "To start with, there isn't much on the menu that reflects the chef's signature style. Oh, his lobster corn dogs are there, and a jumbo lump crabcake, but after that the menu, which isn't that extensive, is all over the place." She gives it a B grade. [LVRJ]

Las Vegas Weekly says Vegas is going through a Korean food surge. The newest? Nine on the Plate. "If you dig Korean, you'll get the comfortable and the creative, and if you're a curious novice, you might find some friendly new favorites." [LVW]

CityLife heads to Braddah's Island Style, the assemblyline Hawaiian spot on Rainbow Boulevard. They didn't care for the salsas but liked the pork, chicken and fish. [CL]
