Legendary Chicago chef Charlie Trotter has died today in his home. Early reports says he was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He was 54 years old.
Trotter briefly had Restaurant Charlie, his Michelin one-star restaurant, at the Palazzo, along with a smaller bar, Bar Charlie, where diners could watch their dishes prepared. Both opened in 2008 and closed in March 2010. Those spaces are being revamped into Shi Fang Market, a pan-Asian food court.
He closed his eponymous two Michelin-starred Chicago restaurant in August.
